On June 28th, Outpost Performance Space director Tom Guralnick became the lateest recipient of the Creative Bravos Legacy Award!

Tom is one of 9 recipients this year, an honor bestowed by the City of Albuquerque’s Cultural Services Division. The Creative Bravos Awards are dedicated to recognizing and honoring work that makes a significant impact on the lives of residents, neighborhoods, and/or communities and given annually to individuals, youths, teams, events, programs, organizations and businesses that celebrate the breadth of creative work that exists in the city.

As founder of Outpost Productions, Tom has grown the organization to serve not only patrons, but to provide performance opportunities for local, national, and international musicians. Through the Outpost, he presents a wide variety of music; educational programs; poetry and spoken word; theater and performance art; puppets; visual art exhibits; and many other unique events. Outpost presents and supports the work of both recognized and emerging local and touring artists. For many years, Tom worked as a bandleader and sideman. He helped to introduce New Mexicans to Avant Garde jazz and has kept interest in jazz alive in New Mexico, first as president of the New Mexico Jazz Workshop and then through the Outpost and the New Mexico Jazz Festival. Many of the internationally prominent jazz artists who live or have lived in New Mexico were able to retire here because of Tom’s commitment to jazz.
