Michael Anthony has played or recorded with nearly every legendary artist of the 20th century, from Miles Davis to Tony Bennett to Quincy Jones. His film work has won Academy Awards (that’s his guitar on Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head) and Emmys (he was part of the Carol Burnett Orchestra.) He was part of the legendary Wrecking Crew along side Carol Kaye, Tommy Tedesco, Glen Campbell and many others. Michael has made his home in New Mexico for the past 30+ years.
Michael has been a champion of jazz in New Mexico and has taught guitar to innumerable guitar monsters during his time in New Mexico. With at least 11 albums to his credit since moving here, Michael has decided to make it an even dozen by going solo.
His new album, Nuages, features 18 prime cuts of covers including Ode to Billy Joe, the classic Blue Bossa, Lullaby of Birdland, Sweet Loraine, Moanin’, Ol’ Man River and a swinging version of Ponciana. He has not lost a step, likely because his routine includes practicing eight hours a day.
