2010 Winners Announced! click here

The twenty-third annual New Mexico Music Awards program handed out trophies for music produced in 2009 on Sunday at a banquet and show that featured performances from the Latin Hip-Hop group, La Junta, Bluegrass artist Richard Martin, Electronica group The Echoing Green, Native Rock legends The Ox Boyz and up and coming Rock band Casso Vita.

Winners included producer and engineer John Wall as Best Producer for the CD “Learn to Swim” from the Rock group Good as Dead, which also took home best of the Year honors. Wall also shared in the honors as producer in the Rock Adult Contemporary and Rock Mainstream categories.

Other multiple winners included Joey Belville as Best Engineer and producer in the Electronica, Rock Alternative and Rock Punk categories. Veteran artists including Michael Anthony, Catherine McGill and Le Chat Lunatique in the Best Instrumental, Adult R & B and Best Cover Song categories, respectively.

Each year, the New Mexico Music Awards honors those artists that have produced exceptional recorded music in New Mexico during the previous calendar year. The program is the brainchild of Eric Larson, Tom Mitchell and Tim Cordova, who in 1987 created the program to foster cooperation among artists, engineers and producers in New Mexico.

We will post information on how to purchase duplicate trophies as soon as the information becomes available.

If you have photos of the event that you’d like to share, please send them to us and if you post any video on line, please let us know so that we can link to it.
