How is the Judging done?

Judging is done in two phases. In the first phase, all entries for each category are judged by a variety of New Mexico music industry professionals. This round of judging narrows the entries to the top five finalists for each category. If the category has fewer than five finalists, the entries are screened to ensure a minimum standard of production has been achieved.

In the second phase, finalists’ entries are sent out-of-state for judging by national music industry professionals. Finalist judges may participate in the judging of a single category or multiple categories, which are usually related, but not exclusive to, their area of expertise.

Can I perform at the awards banquet?

Performances for our banquet and show are selected from finalists, except in the case of performances by invited guests. You may apply to perform if you are a finalist in this year’s awards program. To apply, e-mail us at joseponce@aol.com by May 1st.
